On Thursday, our mission team packed lunches and headed to Big Horn Canyon National Park. Bea-u-ti-ful. Rolling grasslands stretched for miles meeting the deep blue sky far off in the distance. Dust devils spiraled in the fields. Herds of cattle meandered about. After paying the enhance fees, we continued onto the switchbacks into the park….

Thursday in Montana 2011
“It’s the res.” When the truck runs out of gas …”it’s the res.” When the horses race through the park …” it’s the res.” When people arrive hours after the expected time …”it’s the res.” Dogs, cats, cows, and horses roam everywhere…”it’s the res.” Much is forgiven on “the res” … actually “the reservation”. Wednesday in Montana 2011
Another beautiful morning under the Big Sky. Pancakes on the outdoor grill, bacon, and cereal started the day off right! Work commenced shortly after devotions and clean up. Siding began going up on the bath house. Our short-term mission team has learned to use many tools as well as the structural needs of building something…
Tuesday In Montana 2011
Our worksites on this short-term mission project vary widely. One team went into town to pick up trash and prayer walk. They met new people as they worked and the basketball court is a cleaner and safer place for children to play. Robert, 12-year old, ventured over. Our students invited him to join them for…

Justin will be on retreat?!” “Can I ride in Cathy’s car??!” “I want to be in Joe’s group!!” Pam, Justin, Cathy, and Joe are not students in our ministry. They are adult volunteer leaders. They are among the most amazing cadre of…
Faces of Zambia, Part 2
I see the beautiful faces of the little ones in Every Orphan Hope’s “My Father’s Houses.” Joy radiates from their eyes as they share testimonies about new life in Christ and new life in their MFH family. They arise at 5:00 a.m. for devotions (led by the children) then prepare breakfast for the house, handwash…
Faces of Zambia, Part 1
Zambia used to be a pastel-colored, oddly-shaped polygon on a map of Africa. It emerged from the page for me in the summer of 2010 and now stands as a three-dimensional, vibrant land with real people with deep faith. Gentle rolling savanas with scattered trees surround the airport and the capital of Lusaka. Mountains rise…
My Heart’s Tablet
The heart is a complex metaphor. Used by many to convey the very core of one’s being, it shows up in songs, short stories, poetry, paintings, even billboards and commercials. We thrive seeing and reading the hidden messages of one another’s heart. Truly, though, we would never fully reveal the contents of our own heart….
