Acts of peacemaking change things.
Being a peacemaker, though, is not comfortable. The calling places us directly in the middle of conflict. It’s where the peace is needed! As Christ-followers we live as peacemakers. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)
Do you have three minutes? I made a little video about peacemaking…

(What do you think of the video? I’m enjoying new video-making software. More videos to come!)
Two things about being a peacemaker:
1) We need to approach situations with a pure heart. Our own agenda and motives muddy attempts to bring peace. Immediately before the peacemaking beatitude, Jesus said “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Matthew 5:8). Seek the Lord’s wisdom and guidance before ever entering to mediate a conflict.
2) Peacemakers are bridge builders. The job description does not include passive avoidance. Peacemakers bring people together even when the groups feel oceans apart. This month’s newsletter has more about bridge building. Click through to the links and articles here.
