Sometimes our problems are all about perspective. (Mind-blowing photos to change your perspective are just a few inches below...)
When I’m feeling a bit crazed from the pulls of being wife and mom and friend and daughter and employee and sister, I just need to step back and remember that this life is most about relationships.
The stepping back alters my focal point so my perspective improves. Dramatically. Dinner can start later, the shopping can wait another day, work phone calls can be made tomorrow, and vacuuming can certainly be delayed. We must never lose sight of where the Lord has placed us.
Knowing when to change your perspective, can be life-changing!! A few visuals…
New perspective in Ben & Jerry’s Core ice cream. Have you seen this?? The layers are still there but they are rotated 90 degrees. It’s genius!
This little turtle gains a new perspective. Have you seen this one?? It first emerged a couple years ago. LOVE it!
Then, there are perspective pictures. Incredible views of life through ordinary lenses. My daughter loves holding her big brother in the palm of her hand!
Sometimes … we truly just need a change of focus. Our God holds the much larger picture than the simple, finite one that we see.
The prophet Isaiah said, “Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.” (Isaiah 40:28, NLT)
Your Turn
What are you feeling harried about today? Choose one thing to ponder right now.
Next, step back and re-focus. Bring it to God in prayer.
Be aware of His gentle promptings to change your perspective. Do you need to …
- …re-prioritize the day in order to accomplish one primary task?
- …call someone to change an appointment or meeting date?
- …set aside the laundry and be with a neighbor?
Amidst the craziness of the day, remember that multiple perspectives are available for every situation. Seeking our Lord’s perspective brings sanity in even the most askew situations!
I agree with you! I think the temptation to lose perspective is powerful, especially when our lives are full to overflowing anyway. If the enemy can skew the perspective we end up majoring on minors and hurt relationships–our problems become bigger than the relationship!
Love the picture of Elise and Aaron!
Yes, and it was all Aaron’s brilliant idea! The one of you and Aaron is awesome, too! :-) We need to do more of these.
Thanks Sharon, wise words need for this season of life!.
