“Do Not Worry.” Really? Have you seen my life…?

“Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life…” (Matthew 6:25)

Really??

Could Jesus possibly have known about the craziness of my life:

meetings, emails, bills, appointments, errands…?

But Jesus just continues by giving illustrations to his admonition…

Look at the birds of the air … they have food …

See the lilies of the field… they are clothed …

Even the grasses … beautifully arrayed …

I pause.

I’m trying, Lord.

I look at my life…

Ahhh, yes!

It’s not the meetings, emails, and appointments! It’s the people and places that matter! God takes care of our needs if only we would step aside and trust in Him. We belong to the eternal Kingdom with an eternal focus.

Lord, help me take my eyes off the calendar and place them on the people.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.
Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
(Matthew 6:33-34)
