A Word About Luck

Luck and faith?
I don’t do luck.

I don’t do karma.

I don’t avoid black cats.

I don’t believe that bad things come in threes.

I don’t need a wooden surface to knock on when having a conversation.

And, I walk under ladders.

These feeble, superstitious attempts to control outcomes are man-made.

Instead, I will pray fervently for you,

I will encourage you to play hard in your game, practice, or meet.

I will hope for clarity of mind as you take a test, give a speech, audition, or perform.

I will cheer you on as you continue this journey of life. But I won’t be throwing salt over my  right shoulder (or left shoulder), crossing my fingers, looking for four-leaf clovers, or carrying a rabbit’s foot.

No, I don’t do luck.

I do faith in God Alone.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
