Gift Ideas for Short-term Missionaries

Gift-300x199Is there someone on your Christmas list who plans to serve on a short-term mission project in the coming months? Their gift of “presence” on the mission field is huge for the children and families with whom they will be ministering. May these gift ideas help prepare each of our own missionaries….

Stocking stuffers:

  • Work gloves
  • Journal and pen
  • Travel-sized toiletries
  • Lip Balm with sunscreen
  • Insect repellent (some locations recommend with DEET)

Mid-range priced:

  • Rain gear or poncho
  • Money pouch/passport holder
  • Travel alarm clock with batteries
  • Travel compression bags for clothing
  • Calling card (may need an international one)
  • Medical scrubs (pants are great to work in!!)
  • Mosquito netting to go over bed (in some locations)
  • Smaller travel Bible (be sure it includes both Old and New Testaments)

Bigger gifts:

  • Camera that uses batteries (and lots of extra batteries)
  • Large rolling duffle bag (with lots of pockets)
  • Financial support

Thank you for sharing your family to serve on mission teams!!
