Philadelphia Mission, 2010 Sunday

We are here. We’ve prayed and prepared for this ministry for many months. After facing a few back-ups on I95 (shocking, right?!), we joined our advance crew. We spotted the hosting church easily…the CPC trailer was parked on the sidewalk by the red front doors. The church building has a rich history in a changing world. Their pastor and congregation have a heart for the Lord and their neighborhood. We feel blessed to be here.

The short-term mission facilitators (Adventures In Missions) led an orientation and planning time. We learned additional details about tomorrow’s children’s ministries. One site will be a traditional-type VBS with 30-50 kids; the other site is a park environment with “open-air” stations forbids to choose. We expect about 80 kids.

We concluded our day with an evening of worship. Thank you, Don, Rachel, and Red Letters. The spirit-filled concert of prayer removed anxieties and brought a sense of peace among the team. We especially prayed for “people eyes” as Pastor Ott shared so eloquently at this morning’s commissioning service. Where did I see God today? When I learned that our host pastor delivered a similar sermon this morning to his congregation and our advance crew. United by one Lord. May the Lord fill us with His power and direction.

I drift off to sleep to the gentle hum of fans…
