We rolled back into the CPC parking lot from our short-term mission project about noon today. Despite the 4th of July holiday weekend, the traffic had flowed well… even 495 around Washington, DC! Now that is the movement of God!
I’m home. Reviewing my pictures took less than five minutes. Unlike many other mission projects, we have few kodak moments to print. We protect the identity of our VBS/day camp children. We protect the identity of the homeless with whom we prayed. Being at the lowest point in one’s life does not motivate snapshot poses. Our kodak moments, though, are engraved on my heart as treasures beyond the printed page.
Being a visual person, however, I want to share some images. But I like pictures of hope and love (So cheesy, but so true! I also want world peace.). How can pictures of hope exist amidst the depravity we experienced?
Like delicate purple wildflowers emerging from tiny sidewalk cracks, hope does indeed hold on. This hope comes from the Lord. He was evident throughout this week. Decay is not of our Creator. He is beauty and life. “One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.” (Psalm 27:4)
I gazed upon His beauty through His people and His church.
Here is the beauty I saw this past week…
